Bioinspiration and Biomimetics

From my Junior year of high-school and through my gap year until my first semester at Brown, I performed independent research in the Lauder Laboratory at Harvard. 

I first-authored a paper about the effect of tail stiffness on the hydrodynamic performance of tuna, creating and testing physical biomimetic models.

It was in the Lauder Lab that I first became acquainted with MATLAB and Python for data processing and visualisation, as well as fluid mechanics and biomimicry. 

I may not be studying fish anymore, but this incredible experience made me forever certain that I needed to be in a field at the intersection of biology - living, breathing things - and technology.
